The white-throated bee-eater (Merops albicollis) has white face and throat with a black crown, eye stripe, and neckband. Most bee-eaters predominantly eat bees, wasps and hornets, but the white-throated takes mainly flying ants and beetles. It breeds in semi-desert along the southern edge of the Sahara, Africa, but winters in a completely different habitat in the equatorial rainforests of Africa from southern Senegal to Uganda.
