The defining feature of the curly-tailed lizard (Leiocephalus carinatus and Leiocephalus schreibersii) is that its tail often curls over – this is a defence mechanism against predators. Native to the West Indies, it has been introduced to Florida. The curly-tailed lizards mostly forage on arthropods like insects, but also commonly take flowers and fruits.
