The Pomeranian goose (Anser anser), also known as the Rügener goose, is a breed of domestic goose. Although only an officially recognised breed since 1912, Northern German farmers developed the Pomeranian goose, and their origin may date as early as 1550. It is the only descendent of the European Greylag specifically bred for a single-lobed paunch.
