The Purple throated mountain gem hummingbird (Lampornis calolaemus) has a mostly bronze-green plumage, except for the brilliant green crown, purple throat and dark grey tail. The female lacks the bright crown and throat, and has rich cinnamon underparts. It occurs in the montane cloud forests of Nicaragua, Costa Rica, and Panama.
