The dusky turtle dove (Streptopelia lugens) is named for its slightly darker colouring. There are quite a few doves that are commonly known as turtle-doves, a name inspired by their deep, purring "turrr, turrr" song. The dusky is found in NE Africa and the Arabian gulf.
