Azara's agouti (Dasyprocta azarae) is named after Félix de Azara, a Spanish military officer, naturalist, and engineer. It is a South American agouti species from the family Dasyproctidae found in Brazil, Paraguay, and Argentina. It is sometimes known as the jungle gardener, as it often buries nuts and seeds and forgets where it put them, therefore helping new plants to grow.
