The Cuban trogon (Priotelus temnurus), also known as tocororo, is Cuba's national bird and is notable for its plumage which matches the colours of the Cuban flag (red, white, and blue). Its tail feathers have a unique shape, with the innermost feathers forming a point and the outer pairs having blue-black bases and white tips. Its song sounds like its Spanish name, Tocororo. It lives in the woodlands of Cuba and likes to sit still, except when feeding on flowers and fruits. Frequently found in pairs, it breeds in old woodpecker holes or tree cavities.
