The greyish saltator (Saltator coerulescens) is a seed-eating songbird that is widespread in the tropical Americas. Saltator is Latin for leaper or dancer. Traditionally placed in the cardinal family, the saltators actually seem to be closer to the tanagers. Along with the Buff-throated Saltator (Saltator maximus), it is the most widely distributed of its genus.
