The grey francolin (Ortygornis pondicerianus) is a greyish-brown game bird with a short stubbed tail. Formerly also called the grey partridge, not to be confused with the European grey partridge, it is found in the plains and drier parts of the Indian subcontinent and Iran. A fast runner, it prefers to run when disturbed. While both sexes look similar, males may be slightly larger than females.
