The Red-backed dark-eyed Junco (Junco hyemalis) has a reddish-brown back, light grey throat, and a black mask. Its dark eyes, white outer tail feathers, dark two-toned beaks, and slate grey heads help separate them from similar bird species. This mountain bird can be found along the New Mexico, Arizona and Mexican borders.
