The Great Mormon Swallowtail (Papilio memnon) namecomes from the male's uniform appearance and the female's multiple, varied forms, which reminded early naturalists of the Mormon sect's practice of polygamy (one male, many wives). It is found in South and Southeast Asia, from India and Nepal through China, Japan (Ryukyu Islands), and Indonesia.
