The common myna (Acridotheres tristis), a member of the starling family, is sometimes spelled mynah. Sometimes known as the Indian myna – it is a native of India, east and west Pakistan and Burma – it was introduced to many Pacific lands, including New Zealand, to combat invertebrate pests. It is common around the world.
