The Bustard family, Otididae, contains 25 species in nine genera. Most are found in Africa, but others are found in Europe, Asia, Australia, and part of New Guinea. Bustards are all fairly large with the two largest species, the kori bustard (Ardeotis kori) and the great bustard (Otis tarda), cited as possibly the world's heaviest flying birds. However, their long legs have also adapted to running. They live mainly in dry grassland areas. The smallest species is the little brown bustard (Eupodotis humilis).
