The African silverbill (Euodice cantans) is named for its thick silvery-grey bill. A small, slender finch found in savanna, grasslands, fields, and thorn scrub south of the Sahara Desert, it was introduced to the Hawaiian Islands where it occurs in dry grassland and shrubland on all of the larger islands, but is most common on Hawaii.
