The Fruit Bat falls into the category of the Megabat and sometimes it is called the Flying Fox. It varies in size by as much as 12 inches. It is said to have the best overall vision of all bat species. It has a very long tongue that unrolls when feeding. When not eating the tongue is tucked away internally around the rib cage. The Fruit Bat wraps up in its very long wings to allow it to stay warm during roosting. Megabats are found in the Americas, Western Europe, northwest Africa and southwest Australia.
