The black-winged lovebird (Agapornis taranta) is named for its black-tipped tail and underwing feathers. Also known as the Abyssinian lovebird, it is a mainly green bird of the parrot family and is the largest in the lovebird genus. Native to Ethiopia and Eritrea, it is the only lovebird that uses its own feathers for its nest – others use twigs, leaves and debris.
