The European mole cricket (Gryllotalpa gryllotalpa) has powerful forelegs that are greatly enlarged with finger-like projections; an adaptation for burrowing in the soil. It is adapted for underground life and is covered with fine, dense hair. The female cricket lays 100 to 350 eggs in an underground chamber in the spring.
