Endemic to Chile, the Slender-billed Parakeet (Enicognathus leptorhynchus) has a distinctive long, curved bill and bright red face patch. It feeds in noisy swarming flocks of 100s, even 1000s in trees and on the ground. It is a secondary cavity nester, meaning it uses pre-existing holes in trees, particularly southern beech trees.
