The Red-winged Parrot (Aprosmictus erythropterus) is a medium-sized, stout parrot and is the only mainly green parrot with large red shoulder patches. The female is similar to the male, but with a smaller wing patch. Red-winged Parrots live in open, dry woodlands, timber-lined watercourses and arid scrub and sometimes in mangroves. Found in northern and eastern Australia as well as New Guinea and Irian Jaya, they spend most of the day in trees.
