The West Coast lady (Vanessa annabella) is one of three North American species of brush-footed butterflies known colloquially as the "painted ladies". A medium-sized butterfly with orange-brown coloration and white spots. it can be found in fields, foothills, gardens and roadsides. Its range includes most of western North America.
