The Blue-crowned Mealy Parrot (Amazona farinosa guatemalae) , also known as the Guatemalae Mealy Amazon, gets the name 'mealy' because of the peculiar grey-green colouring of its feathers making it appear to be dusted, like it has been powdered with a light sprinkling of flour. It is a mostly green Amazon with sometimes a bit of yellow or red on the front of the face, and sometimes a wash of pale blue or lavender on the crown of the head. It lives on the edges of rain forest, montane forest to 1,500 m (5,000 ft), plus partially cleared areas with scattered trees and mangroves the Mealy Amazon ranges from Southern Mexico through Central America, northern Bolivia and central-eastern Brazil.
