The Pipevine Swallowtail (Battus philenor) feeds on the Dutchman's-pipe plant – which, in turn, gets it name from its yellowish-green flower that has a close resemblance to Dutch smoking pipes. The plant is poisonous to humans. The pipevine swallowtail's distribution spans from southern New England south to central Florida, and west to Nebraska, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, California, and Oregon.
