The brown-breasted barbet (Lybius melanopterus) is named for its brown breast band. Its pale bill helps distinguish it from the black-collared barbet. It is found in savannah, as well as the coastal and riverine forests of Eastern Africa – southern Somalia, Kenya, Tanzania, northern Mozambique, and south-eastern Malawi.
