The Ruby-topaz Hummingbird (Chrysolampis mosquitus) has a ruby-red crown and nape, and iridescent golden-orange throat and breast in males. The female has bronze-green upperparts and pale grey underparts. The tail is chestnut with a dark band and a white tip. It is found in various environments, including tropical secondary forests, savannas, and gardens, in northern South America, including Venezuela, Trinidad, Colombia, and Brazil.
