The golden-tailed woodpecker (Campethera abingoni) has a golden-olive tail, as do several woodpeckers – the combination of barred, greenish upper part plumage, and streaked underparts is distinctive. Its scientific name commemorates Montagu Bertie, 5th Earl of Abingdon (1784 – 1854). It habits woodlands or forest south of the equator, and is very localised north of it.
