The Green Rosella (Platycercus caledonicus), also known as the Tasmanian Rosella, is a vibrant parrot species endemic to Tasmania and the Bass Strait islands, with a distinctive yellow, green, and black plumage. The largest species of the rosella genus – growing to 37 cm (14.5 in) – Green Rosellas are found in forested areas and in hedges and shrubs in more open areas, where they feed on seeds, fruits, and nectar, but also consume insects, making them both herbivores and carnivores.
