The green-naped lorikeet (Trichoglossus haematodus) is named for the greenish-yellow band on the back of its neck. On the tip of its tongue a small brush – which is actually the tongue's extended papillae – that enables the green-named lorikeet to feed on nectar and pollen from flowers. Also known as the coconut lorikeet, it is found on Islands in Indonesia and Papua New Guinea on New Guinea, in the Bismarck Archipelago, the Solomon Islands, Vanuatu and New Caledonia.
