The ring-necked parakeet (Psittacula krameri), also known as the Indian rose-ringed parakeet, is the UK's only naturalised parrot. It has isolated native ranges in Africa and South Asia, and is now introduced into many other parts of the world where feral populations have established themselves and are bred for the exotic pet trade. Four subspecies are recognised, though they differ little: African rose-ringed parakeet, Abyssinian rose-ringed parakeet, Indian rose-ringed parakeet, Boreal rose-ringed parakeet.
