The rufous grasshopper (Gomphocerippus rufus) is typically brown, but sometimes reddish-brown or purple. Found across Eurasia, it prefers dry, well-structured habitats like chalk grasslands. Males can be identified by their orange-red abdominal tip and orange-red hind tibiae, a feature less pronounced in females.
