The Yellow-tailed oriole (Icterus mesomelas) is the only oriole with yellow in the tail, hence the species’ name. It is mainly yellow with a black back, lower face and upper breast and is found in Central and South America. The Yellow-tailed Oriole is reducing in numbers in parts of its range due to the cage-bird trade coveting its appearance and its beautiful song.
