The Abyssinian Long-eared Owl (Asio abyssinicus), a medium-sized owl with prominent dark ear-tufts. It is also known as the African Long-eared Owl. A nocturnal bird, it roosts during the daytime usually on a branch close to a tree trunk. The song of the male is a drawn-out "who-woohm". It feeds mostly on small mammals, but also other small vertebrates and insects.
