The name Javan Myna (Acridotheres javanicus) originates from its native habitat, the Indonesian island of Java. The species is endemic to Java and Bali, where it is known in Indonesian as jalak kebo. Also known as the white-vented myna, is a highly adaptable, medium-sized bird in the starling family (Sturnidae). It has become a highly successful and often invasive species in other parts of Southeast Asia, particularly Singapore, where it is among the most abundant bird species in urban environments. It is primarily black to dark slate-grey with a slight glossy sheen, often described as having a "stocky" build.
