Native to East Africa and Southern Africa, the serrated hinged terrapin (Pelusios sinuatus) is named because its defence includes a hinge to close its shell after pulling the head and front legs inward. It also has incredibly sharp claws for defending against predator attacks and hunting a variety of creatures, including snails, mollusks, insects, frogs, and fish.
