The vinaceous dove (Streptopelia vinacea) head and the underparts are pale pinkish-grey, which is a tenuous link to red or rosé wine – hence the vinaceous epithet. It also has red legs. Vinaceous doves eat grass seeds, grains and other vegetation in a scrub and savannah belt across Africa just south of the Sahara Desert.
