The Golden grosbeak (Pheucticus chrysogaster) is an attractive, chunky bird with a strong bill, known for its bright yellow and black plumage. It is found up to 3000 meters in a large diversity of South American habitats from north-eastern Venezuela to southernmost Peru, occurring in semi-open habitats, edges of the forest, and shrub. Also known as golden-bellied grosbeak or southern yellow grosbeak, males are more vibrant, with black wings and backs, while females have a duller brown-and-black pattern.
