The Santa Marta brush finch (Atlapetes melanocephalus) is endemic to Colombia – one of at least 20 bird species restricted to the Santa Marta Mountains, northern Colombia. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist montane forests and heavily degraded former forest. Its black head has a unique silvery cheek patch. Otherwise it is entirely dark olive above and yellow below.
