The endangered White-handed gibbon, also known as lar gibbon (Hylobates lar), is named due to its colouration – the hair that covers the hands of the white-handed gibbon is white, and its feet are covered with white hair, too. It is found in Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar and Thailand. There are three sub-species: Malaysian lar gibbons, Carpenter's lar gibbons, Central lar gibbons, Sumatran lar gibbons. White-handed gibbons communicate through song, rich vibratos that reverberate through their rainforest habitat.
