The Indian Scops Owl (Otus bakkamoena) is a nocturnal bird that is rarely seen during the daytime, when it hides in thickly foliaged trees. It is a small owl with large, conspicuous ear-tufts found in India, Pakistan, Nepal and Sri Lanka. The Indian Scops Owl feeds mainly on insects including beetles and grasshoppers. They will also occasionally take vertebrates such as lizards, mice and small birds.
