The Common Grass Yellow (Eurema hecabe) is a small, widespread butterfly known for its bright yellow wings and erratic, low flight. Despite its name, this butterfly does not eat grass. Its host plants are typically from the pea family (Fabaceae), such as Acacia or Caesalpinia. The name simply comes from the open, grassy habitats where they are usually spotted flying across Africa, Asia, and Australia.
