The magnificently coloured greater blue-eared starling or greater blue-eared glossy-starling (Lamprotornis chalybaeus), named for its blue ear patch, is found in open woodland in sub Saharan Africa. Genders are similar with teal-blue upperparts that show a brilliant shiny, metallic iridescence in good light.
