The tawny-flanked prinia (Prinia subflava) has rufous-brown edges to its grey-brown flight feathers and a rufous tinge to the rump. There is a whitish stripe over the eye. It is found in scrub in a variety of habitat types in most parts of Africa south of the Sahara, and there are ten sub-species. When breeding, it weaves a hanging purse-shaped nest from strips of grass anywhere from two to four metres off the ground.
