The speckled wood (Pararge aegeria) is named for the speckled marks on its wings in yellow and black, along with the wood-like dark brown coloration seen on its wings. It is found in woodlands and other green areas, including urban gardens, hedgerows, tall grasses, and more. Its habitat range must consist of both shaded and sunny areas. It is generally found throughout much of the Palearctic realm.
