The blue brindled wildebeest (Connochaetes taurinus) is the bigger than the black wildebeest. Blue wildebeest tend to be dark grey with stripes, but may have a bluish sheen. This wildebeest species was first described in 1823 by William John Burchell, an English explorer, traveler, and naturalist. The Blue Wildebeest has five subspecies, which are spread across the African continent.
