The black-naped oriole (Oriolus chinensis) is an Asian passerine bird with bright yellow and black markings, including a distinctive black bandit stripe which broadens and joins up at the back of the neck. The female is similar to the male but has more yellowish-green upperparts. The black-naped oriole is featured on Singapore's former $500 notes and various postage stamps, highlighting its importance in the country's natural heritage. It raids the nests of smaller birds for eggs or chicks. It is found across south-east Asia in a variety of forest habitats, including plantations and gardens; and forages in the forest canopy.
