The green-winged pytilia (Pytilia melba), also known as the melba finch, is a common species of estrildid finch found throughout Sub-Saharan Africa. It has two subspecies groups, nominate melba in the south and the northerly citerior, which is sometimes treated as separate species. The male has a uniformly olive-green back and wings and a red forehead and anterior neck; the latter is grey in the female.
