The Migrant spreadwing (Lestes barbarus) has a metallic green body and wings held away from the body at rest. Male adults can be identified by the pale brown pterostigma which has a pale yellow outer half. Also known as the southern emerald damselfly, shy emerald damselfly, it is a migrant species that has expanded its original Mediterranean range to the north and east and is now pretty common in most of Europe and east to northern China.
