Bianchi's pheasant (Phasianus colchicus bianchii) is a subspecies of the Common Pheasant ( Phasianus colchicus). Also known as the Afghan Whitewing Pheasant or White-Winged Pheasant, it is named bianchi (Italian for white) for its distinct appearance, particularly the male, which often has a lighter, more pale plumage compared to other Common Pheasant subspecies. Historically Bianchi's Pheasant has been found near the northern border of Afghanistan and southern Uzbekistan, along the shores of the Amu Darya River. It is found in areas like mountains of Nepal, Sikkim, northern Myanmar, Tibet, and parts of China, where it prefers open areas with plenty of vegetation and cover, particularly in mountainous regions, scrublands, and along rivers and streams.
