The White Bellied Caiques (Pionites leucogaster) plumage is so vivid that it is known as the clown of the Parrot world. Also known as White-breasted, Apricot-headed or Yellow-thigh Caiques or Parrots they are endemic to Brazil and eastern Peru. In the wild, caiques (pronounced kigh-eek) are generally seen in pairs or flocks up to 30 birds, calling loudly during flight. Male and female birds look identical. They are the only parrot that has a pure white belly or breast, except for cockatoos.
