The Tapered drone fly (Eristalis pertinax) is a fairly large hoverfly with a tapered abdomen, most obvious in the male. It is called a drone fly as it looks remarkably similar to Honeybee drones. It is found in Asia and Europe. Drone Flies avidly search for nectar in order to power their flight.
