The brightly coloured speckled tanager (Tangara guttata) is green with black spotting, and the face is yellow with a black line from the eye to the gape. Found in southern Central American and northern South America, it is a resident breeder in Costa Rica, Panama, Trinidad, Venezuela, Colombia and the extreme north of Brazil. The primary diet consists of fruit, but it also eats nectar,seeds and insects, such as beetles.
